Quick guide (Creality Ender 3)

  1. Design model:
    • Design 3D model using any CAD software (e.g. FreeCAD), export object as STL.
    • Use slicer (e.g. Cura, PrusaSlicer) to convert STL to G-code for appropriate 3D printer.
    • Load G-code onto a microSD card.
  2. Verify settings on 3D printer:
    • Check bed levelled, i.e. same spacing across the four adjustment screws.
    • Set to print temperature and feed material to extruder
    • Move print head to home and verify height (Z-axis) of print head is at least equal to the diameter of the extruded material.
    • Set temperatures to preheat settings
  3. Trigger print
    • Print from (microSD) media, and start.

Slicing tips

For quick setup, install PrusaSlicer (Linux), which contains presets for many printers and filaments. Required information:

Load object into the slicer, and choose a desired print quality (presets come from 0.08mm resolution to 0.28mm resolution around 4x speed), then slice the object. Verify the print layers before exporting G-code.
